America’s comedy clubs would probably be the last place you would expect to give rise to one of the country's leading cultural analysts, but that is exactly what happened in the case of Dr. Will Miller. You see, at the same time Will was working his way up to headliner status as a comedian, he earned four graduate degrees and was trained as a psychotherapist and ordained as a minister.

Dr. Will was Nick At Nite’s resident Television Therapist and the host of their "Why We Watch" segments for five years. His penetrating, yet tongue-in-cheek insights into the hidden meanings of our favorite television shows made him a popular fixture at the home of Classic TV. And, because Will is a fully trained psychotherapist, what he told us about classic television may have been humorous, but it was also true. Miller went on to host the NBC daytime talk show, "The Other Side." He left the program when he objected to the direction it was taking.

Currently, Will is a frequent guest on a variety of television programs, including CNN’s "Larry King Show," ABC’s "Good Morning America," and the "Rosie O’Donnell Show." He was also profiled on NBC’s "Dateline" and in People Magazine, and is a weekly guest on the popular nationally syndicated Bob & Tom radio show. He is contacted on a regular basis by major news organizations for his opinions on the top issues of the day. In fact, Will is a frequent contributor to Entertainment Weekly Magazine, and was spokesperson for the National Institute of Mental Health. He conducts research into the psychological effects of media on people (children in particular) in association with Purdue University.

Dr. Miller’s first book, "Why We Watch: Killing The Gilligan Within" was published by Simon & Schuster in the Fall of 1996. His new book, "Refrigerator Rights," will be published in hardcover by Random House later this year. He is in great demand as a speaker to corporations and organizations across the United States and Canada, addressing the effects of our culture on personal growth, happiness and fulfillment. In fact, he was the highest rated speaker ever to appear at IBM’s prestigious Golden Circle event, and was the spokesman for Microsoft’s Carpoint.

Dr. Will Miller holds a Masters Degree and a Doctorate in Urban Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University, and a Masters in Divinity from Union Theological Seminary.
